About a week ago Seth started randomly complaining about having a sore leg.
By Tuesday he woke up in so much pain that he couldn’t put any weight on his leg without crying. Neil had to carry him around. I thought maybe he pulled a hamstring or something, and Neil came home from work to take him to see the doctor. She thought it seemed like his knee and sent him for x-rays. She also ordered some blood work on the slight chance it could be something more ominous.
By Tuesday evening Seth had a fever and was in pretty rough shape. Neil and I were trying not to freak out about it, but we were worried; it was just such a weird illness. Worst-case scenarios ran through my mind.
Yesterday he was getting around with only a little bit of a limp, although he still had a low-grade fever all day and evening. He rested and napped all day.
This morning he is up and much more energetic. He is asking for a “little tiny bit” of breakfast, which is more than he’s asked for in a few days. He’s staying home from school again, but I think he’s going to be fine.
It’s been a stressful run, this weird sickness, and I’ve been so thankful for all of our friends and family. We’ve had so many calls/texts/emails from people asking how Seth is and letting us know they’re praying for him. We’re really so blessed. Having a sick child, even for a few days, always reminds me how thankful I am to have healthy children.
